Cory Asbury Releases New Studio Album, 'Outsing The Angels'
After a five-year detour and a season when he wasn’t sure he had another record in him, Cory Asbury releases his new studio album, Outsing The Angels, today. The 15-track project captures Asbury’s deeply personal return to worship, an honest, wholehearted and full of renewed wonder.
“Outsing the Angels is a call to outlandish, unruly worship,” shares Cory Asbury. “It’s the childlike, almost foolish notion that we, mere mortals, could somehow contend with the very beings created for the sole purpose of worship. Honestly, it’s preposterous. But it’s a reminder that we were once young and wild and full of life and passion, before the mundaneness of the everyday dulled our love for Him. Let’s choose again to sing like nothing ever hurt us. To laugh in wonder like the moon is chasing us.”
Known for the triple-Platinum hit “Reckless Love,” Asbury spent more than five years away from the Church and worship ministry, questioning whether he would ever make another record. Outsing The Angels emerged on the other side of that season, reflecting a renewed calling and a willingness to worship without holding anything back.
“This album is for the ones done playing it safe, who break the jar and pour out everything like Mary at His feet, who’d rather be labeled wasteful than careful,” Asbury continues. “Lungs burning, voice breaking, nothing held back.”
This fall, Asbury will perform at Magnolia’s Silobration in Waco, Texas, alongside Mt. Joy, The Fray and Dylan Gossett. Asbury takes the stage Sunday, October 25.
