Review: Clap For Poland
Take A Stand

Nov 02 2010

Clap For Poland from California are made up of Alex, Maribel, David, and Jonathan who all met a few years ago. The band are a relatively new band, having only been playing together for the last year, but this isn't a band who want to sit around. Clap For Poland have come out and released their first single Take A Stand which has a second track called Changed.

The first thing that jumps out at you about Take A Stand is it has a very nice charm to it. Starting with a clean and simple but effective guitar riff that is continuous throughout the song. Lyrically the song is about standing strong through all the lies that can be thrown at you. The strong lyrics that jumped out at me were "But Your glory strengthens me, and I grab a hold, of Your mercy", a powerful truth to hold on to. The song ends with a great solo that finishes this song off with glamour.

The B-track has always been counted as the lesser track of the two when singles are released, a track that isn't good enough for the album but still good enough to be recorded and used. But this B-track is an exception to the norm. Changed is a pleasant addition to the single, a fine quality song that is as good as the main track. The band sing "Wont you pray with me, He'll give you all you need". With its clean guitar solo and riffs that lead the song, this is a first rate track.

Both songs sound like a mix between The Strokes and The Libertines, and if that's your kind of music, please check these guys out, they're well worth keeping an eye out for in the next few years.
