100 Favourite Instrumental Worship Songs

Jan 24 2011

When I saw the title of the next album I was about to review, shivers were sent down my spine. 100 Favourite Instrumental Worship Songs is a new compilation, spread over five CDs, including many of the church's best loved worship songs. From 'Change My Heart O God' to 'Amazing Grace', the songs are taken from a wide range of sources, covering a broad range of styles from soul to classical.

Fans of LTTM will know that instrumental albums aren't really my thing. I'm not the biggest fan of these kind of albums. I personally would much rather an album with 11 new tracks pushing forward and offering something new in worship. But what you can't disregard on this album is the musicianship on some of these songs, which is of such high quality. The cello work on I Love You Lord is of a very high standard and one of the standout points of the album. You can't knock at all how great some of the playing on this album is.

This album does contain great worship songs, songs that impacted the church over years and are great worship songs that we sing time and time again as an offering of worship to God. Personally for me these versions, done in this way and this style, sadly didn't grow on me at all. However I am sure they could be used effectively in times of reflection in personal worship. But for me there is so much more in Christian music out there now that is really exciting new worship. Of course this is just my personal opinion and if you're a big fan of instrumental music done in this way, please check this out as this is an amazing big collection of songs to have in one package.
