Louder Than The Music

Following the news that former Newsboys lead singer Peter Furler has signed a record deal with EMI Christian Music Group as a solo singer, further details have emerged about his forthcoming debut solo album.

Peter will release 'On Fire' on 7th June 2011, preceded by the album's first single 'Reach' which will be launched to radio stations on 25th March 2011 and go on sale at iTunes on 19th April 2011. Peter has been working in the studio with Me In Motion front man Seth Mosely and former Newsboys bassist Phil Joel on new material. Details of the album release, including the artwork (right), are still to receive final confirmation.

The Grammy nominated and Dove award winning singer was originally Newsboys' drummer before taking over as their lead singer in 1997. In addition to receiving the industry's top songwriter of the year award, he achieved five Gold records and sales of over seven million albums during his time with Newsboys. He has written, produced and sung over 25 number one hits including classics such as 'He Reigns' and 'Shine'.

"This June, Peter Furler begins to write a new chapter in his history with his first solo album, which some are calling Peter's greatest work to date", says EMI CMG. "Like any true artist though, Peter is merely finding an outlet after God called him to take some time away. 'There is a fire shut up in my bones that I have not been able to hold in since I was a child,' says Furler. 'For me, I find its release through melody and testimony.'"
