Hillsong United Receive Cover Feature From Trade Magazine Pollstar
Australian worship band Hillsong United have been creating waves in the secular music industry in the US following their outstanding sold-out North American 'Aftermath' tour earlier this year. Touring industry trade magazine Pollstar featured the Sydney based band as it's 'Hotstar' cover feature after they performed 10 sold-out events at major venues coast-to-coast and became the first Christian artist to ever sell out Los Angeles's famed 13,000 capacity Staples Center.
The tour came as Hillsong United released its eleventh full-length album and second ever studio recording 'Aftermath' which topped retail sales charts internationally and remains the band's fastest selling album ever. Plans for a significant summer/fall 2011 North American tour to begin in August will be announced soon.
"Christian music collective Hillsong United from Sydney, Australia, has visited the U.S. several times over the past three years, drawing crowds from 3,000 to 6,000 wherever they went. But it wasn’t until they became the first Christian artist to sell out the Staples Center that the band caught some people's attention" writes Pollstar. The magazine goes on to quote promoter Shane Quick, saying: "Another thing is this band is very committed to all nationalities. When you go to a Hillsong United event you'll see white, black, Asian and Latin lined up like no Christian band I've ever seen. And they've also invested in those demographics by touring in Asia, touring in South America, and writing songs and doing full albums in Spanish. And they've given worship songs to different countries that really didn't have any made for them."
