Paint The Town Red
The Delirious track Paint The Town Red was about going out there and bringing God and Jesus into our towns and cities. The 2005 track was the center point to Delirious' 'The Mission Bell' album and now the Kingsway label have taken that message and put together a compilation of similar hard hitting tracks.
Looking at this twelve track compilation album, these songs aren't the songs you might hear in your local church on a Sunday Morning. This collection is leaning towards a more contemporary feel. There are tracks from British bands dweeb, The Gentlemen, Verra Cruz and the talented Electralyte (such a big shame they decided to split). Also on the album there are tracks from South African rockers Tree 63 and also OneHundredHours.
All very good bands, and the tracks picked for this compilation are heading more towards the rock side. Listening to Electralyte's 'Where In The World' (one of my favorite tracks in the last few years), it still has the anthemic power that caught my attention the first time around.
That's where this album is aimed at, twelve songs that are anthemic and full throttle, all of them strong, loud and proud. You just have to put on Yfriday's 'Revolution' to really get you in the mood for the rest of this album.
Other standout moments from this compilation are 'Push Back' by The Gentlemen and the raw power of Verra Cruz on 'Strange Food'. Also on here is the summer anthem of last year It's Ok, a wonderful happy go lucky modern sounding track that again will make you smile when the sun is out.
Kingsway have moved down a different route with this collection, not going for the songs that are impacting the church. These are songs that you wouldn't be scared to show your mates, and show that Christian music is more than acoustic guitars and happy clappy tunes. These songs are raw and powerful, and put together as a very strong collection.
