Saviour Of The World
What makes a good compilation album? The answer, I have come to realise, is that I'm really not sure. The more I review compilation albums the more I realise it comes down to what you are looking for. In the last few months there have been many compilation albums released, all aimed at a different market. There are albums based around themes like 'The Cross', 'Forgiveness', 'Healing', Hope', 'Love' and many many more. There are albums that have a selection of the latest church songs, albums with the best classic songs or albums that are from the latest contemporary releases showing a small taster of what bands are doing. All of these are good album ideas, and really depending on what you are looking for depends on which is the best album to purchase.

This moves me onto my newest review, it's the compilation titled 'Saviour Of The World', the album drawing inspiration from the Ben Cantelon song of the same name. The album takes a look at the themes of redemption, salvation and the power of the cross. All great themes to look at.

Basically the albums is made of mixed bag of older worship songs sitting beside some of the new wave of amazing worship songs impacting the church and Christian festivals around the UK right now. From classics of years gone by such as the Delirious? song 'I Found Jesus' and Graham Kendrick's 'The Servant King', to newer songs like Rend Collective Experiment's 'Exalt' and Claire Hamilton's 'Breathe On Me'. Also thrown in are some of the big church anthems of the last few years like 'How He Loves Us', 'Happy Day', 'Might To Save' and Brenton Brown's 'Everlasting God'.
Other artists featured on the album include the amazing Matt Redman, Lou Fellingham, Chris McClarney, Eoghan Heaslip, Aaron Keyes and the Encounter Worship Band. Overall this double CD album is well balanced, taking in a good blend of old and new. I really think you get a great selection of some of the best and well known songs that people are singing week in and out at the local church.
