iTunes UK In Major Promotion With Big Church Day Out
In an encouraging development for Christian music in the UK, iTunes UK have launched a new promotion working with both Christian record labels and the UK's Big Church Day Out event that has the potential to dramatically increase the profile of Christian music in the UK. The Big Church Day Out iTunes Page offers albums from the big name artists appearing at this year's event on May 28th and 29th, and will feature two exclusive free offers.
Available from now until May 26th, the iTunes page is giving away a free download of Tim Hughes's latest single 'Counting On Your Name'. Then from May 27th to June 13th the page will offer a free six-track EP, featuring headliners from this - and previous years' - Big Church Day Out events: Hillsong UNITED, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Newsboys and TobyMac.
"Both promotions are completely free and utterly exclusive", says Kingsway who have been actively involved in the iTues tie-in. "If enough people download them it will add considerable influence to the drive for iTunes UK creating a genre page for Christian music. At present iTunes users in the US, Canada and Australia all have pages dedicated to the depth and breadth of Christian music, yet there is none in the UK. All that could change with this promotion, helping move us a significant step closer to seeing Christian music reflected more accurately."
Big Church Day Out is the fastest growing Christian music event in Europe and takes place on May 28th and 29th at Wiston House in West Sussex. The line up for 2011 features The David Crowder Band, The Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, Toby Mac, Israel Houghton, plus British worship leader Matt Redman, who all perform on the mainstage on both days. Also performing on the Saturday will be Chip Kendall (formerly with thebandwithnoname), BeBe Vox, Dweeb, Jahaziel, Philippa Hanna, Stuart Pendred and The Kings Chamber Orchestra. Sunday also features The Gentlemen, LZ7, Guvna B, Tom & Olly, Monique Lawson, Trent, Graham Kendrick, Jonathan Veira and Lou Fellingham.
