50 Golden Instrumental Worship Songs
I love different styles of worship, I really do. Hopefully in my reviews I portray a man who loves any music genre that wants to sing about how amazing God is, from classical to rap to alternative to dance and all the way back. Worship to God is worship to God no matter what the genre or style. Saying that, when I saw that Kingsway had released a massive three CD compilation album titled '50 Golden Instrumental Worship Songs & Hymns', a small part of me worried what I was going to find.
Before we get into the review of this album, can I add I'm not the biggest fan of instrumental music, never have been and probably never will be. Doesn't matter if it's a instrumental version of the latest Hillsong United track or an instrumental version of a classical hymn, I personally always feel the lyrics are as much a part of the song as the music and that if you take that out you do lose a small amount of what the song is trying to say.

This album has all the well known hymns, and if you want to hear songs like When I Survey The Wondrous Cross, Great Is Thy Faithfulness and Amazing Grace in a instrument setting, then this could be for you. Also on the album there are a few tracks from the 70's and 80's, songs like All Heaven Declares and The servant King. Stripped of their lyrics these can seem a bit bare at times, but the instruments play the music and melody beautifully.

On some of the songs the classical musicianship is of a very high standard, the perfect rich tones of the instruments during the tracks are a real joy to listen to. As with any style and genre, if you're a fan of it, you will love it, but if you like your rock/pop/dance you will not be a fan of this. Some people will really enjoy this collection, but sorry this is not for me. Yet my wife tells me she thinks this is the perfect album to put on and chill to while reading a book, and I can see what she means.
