Empire Nation Running In Support Of Samaritan's Purse
British band Empire Nation, who will be supporting New Zealand's Parachute Band on their UK tour next week, will be doing a sponsored run around their home town of Ely in Cambridgeshire in aid of the Samaritan's Purse 'Turn on the Tap' appeal.
"On June 19th, Empire Nation will be digging out their lycra and sweatbands ready to take on a new challenge... emerging from behind the safety of their amps and guitars, they will take a giant leap outside their comfort zones by RUNNING a route round their home town of Ely", says the band. "Now Empire Nation don't break sweat unless it's for a very good reason. It's all for the Samaritan's Purse 'Turn on the Tap' appeal. Lack of basic sanitation kills more children today than malaria, AIDs and measles combined - deaths that could be easily prevented."
Since 2005, Samaritan's Purse have provided over 220,000 people with access to clean water and sanitation across Ethiopia, Liberia, Niger, Mozambique and Uganda. Just £8 could give a child access to life-transforming clean water through a water filter installed in a home, £15 could provide an entire family access to a nearby well with a hand pump, £36 could give a girl and her family their own latrine and £48 could give a mother and her family clean water in the home through a BioSand water filter.
