Bosh Take A Break To Explore New Projects
After 15 years together, British band Bosh are to cease being an active recording and gigging band and enter a hiatus. The band say they are "not officially splitting up or ending" but that they "are ready for pastures new". Dave and Mike Griffiths, the brothers at the core of the band, will now pursue other musical projects.
"We've been BOSH man and boy and we're feeling called to new musical priorities" said Dave. "We can look back with pride at what we've done, and look ahead with excitement to what we are called to next".
Mike will be pursuing his new band, Jackhatch, for which he is main songwriter and drummer. Dave is developing a new worship initiative called Chaos Curb, for which he has been recording an album with such luminaries as Marc James (Verra Cruz), Tim Jupp (formerly of Delirious?) and members of [dweeb]. BOSH bassist James Grant has also been involved in Chaos Curb as has recently recruited guitarist Steve Coates.
Based in Bournemouth, the band formed in 1996 and performed hundreds of gigs and released four studio albums, including 2008's 'Sound the Alarms' and 2009's 'The Gloaming Hour'. Most recently they recorded the 'Fruit Tree' album with numerous friends to raise funds for charity.
"We've not been afraid to cut our own groove" added Dave "We've been quite bold in following God's direction, particularly with 'Sound the Alarms' (which was mainly given for free or for a donation) and 'Fruit Tree' (which enlisted musical friends for a charity album), but seen so much blessing and we're chuffed so many people have connected with our music. We want to thank everyone who supported us, especially Risen Records."
The band have also said that it's unlikely they will never record and gig again, but for now they are happy to finish a summer of gigging and walk into new musical seasons. The hiatus will begin after a send off show in their hometown of Bournemouth on 2nd September 2011, which will also be filmed.
