Jimmy Needham To Release New Full-Length Album In February

Nov 11 2011

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Needham will release a new full-length studio album on 21st February 2012 following a successful fan-funded Kickstarter campaign to raise money to record the album. The soul-infused jazz and Motown-based singer released his third album 'Nightlights' in 2010 and now, thanks to donations made by his fans, is in the studio recording his next album.

"You all keep blowing my mind with your kindness and generosity", wrote Jimmy in a message to his fans. "With just a handful of days to go, we have officially met and exceed the $35K mark! Of course, this is big news because this means I will now be making 2 albums. My full-length record that I am working on right now, and an exclusive hymns cover record that only you who give to my Kickstarter and folks at my concerts can get. Because we hit $35,000 (and climbing) I will have enough funds to make the hymns project a full-length 10-track album! Thanks again guys and girls. Without you this wouldn't be possible."

Jimmy later teased followers on Facebook that the album would include collaborations with "2 mystery artists".

Kickstarter describes itself as "the world's largest funding platform for creative projects" and has been used by a number of artists in recent years to fund albums, with fans who donate to the campaigns often receiving rewards relative to the size of their donation. Any fan who made a $10 or higher donation to Jimmy Needham's campaign will receive a free copy of both his new full-length album and his exclusive hymns project prior to their release in the new year.
