iTunes Picks Gungor, Kirk Franklin & Laura Story As Best Of 2011

Dec 14 2011

iTunes have revealed their picks of the best music of 2011. In the Christian & Gospel category of the 'iTunes Rewind 2011', recently Grammy nominated worship band Gungor are awarded Breakthrough Artist of the Year for their latest album 'Ghosts Upon The Earth'.

Album of the Year goes to Gospel singer Kirk Franklin's 'Hello Fear', whilst iTunes have picked singer/songwriter Laura Story's 'Blessings', from the album of the same name, as Song of the Year for 2011.

"2011 was a spectacular year in music, and we've whittled it down to the albums, artists, and songs that made the biggest impact" says iTunes, the worlds biggest digital music download service.

All three artists were given Grammy nominations last month. Gungor received their third consecutive Grammy nomination, following the success of 'Ghosts Upon The Earth', which topped the Christian iTunes charts earlier this year and reached number 14 on iTunes' Mainstream chart. Laura Story also received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song for 'Blessings', whilst Kirk Franklin's 'Hello Fear' received two Grammy nominations, for Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Song.
