David Crowder, Audrey Assed, Luminate & Samestate Featured On 'The Covers EP'
An exclusive digital-only five song EP, titled 'The Covers EP' is now available featuring newly recorded cover songs performed by top Christian artists David Crowder, Audrey Assad, Luminate, SAMESTATE, and Abandon.
The EP kicks off with Luminate's take on the Pete Townsend classic 'Let My Love Open The Door'. Abandon follows with a lively version of Katrina and the Waves' 1985 hit 'Walking On Sunshine' before David Crowder covers Cole Porter's 1934 standard 'Don't Fence Me In'. Samestate try out the Modern English, New Wave-era favourite 'I Melt With You', and singer/songwriter Audrey Assad goes even further back in time on Pink Floyd's famed 'Wish You Were Here'.
Discussing her decision to record 'Wish You Were Here', Audrey Assad said, "When I picked a song to cover for this little project, the song just stuck out to me. It would have been a more obvious choice, perhaps, to have picked one of the old jazz standards that my voice and piano lend themselves so easily to... but I wanted to challenge myself and my artistry and my emotions. It ended up being one of the more beautiful moments in my whole career so far, tracking this song."
