Janet Blair Collaborates With Jars of Clay Guitarist On 'Songs For The Waiting'
A perfectly balanced blend between Ellie Holcomb and Regina Spektor, Janet Blair brings a fresh new sound to the Christian music scene with her smooth, silvery voice, piano-pop sounds, and incomparable messages of hope and glory in the midst of sorrow.
Her brand new track "Creation's Song" is principally influenced by two passages: Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing" and Isaiah 30:15, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength."
After the unexpected death of a friend's child, God radically changed the direction of singer-songwriter Janet Blair's path. Blair recalls, "I was overwhelmed with hopelessness, when at 2 AM when God reminded me of where my hope is. He gave me a song. So I got out of bed, sat down at my piano and I wrote it out - my unexpected, unasked-for first song."
So began the journey of a classically trained pianist and symphonic oboist into a Nashville-produced singer-songwriter. Over the course of a three week recording session, Jars of Clay guitarist, Matthew Odmark, collaborated with Janet Blair to produce the album. The debut album Songs for the Waiting was born. It will be released on April 7th.
