Interview: Naturally 7

Oct 26 2017

Renowned New York vocal-group Naturally 7 have released their seventh studio-album 'Both Sides Now', featuring their a cappella versions of classic songs spanning over many decades. LTTM caught up with group member Warren Thomas to find out more about this talented group of singers.

Tell us a little bit about this new album 'Both Sides Now?

This album is a little different than the albums in the past as it touches some of the more choral styles that we do and some songs that have touched us in the past or present.

Which is your favourite track on the album and why?

Each member might have a different answer and even that can change depending on the day or mood, right now I'm in a "First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" mood.

If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?

Right now I like the style of Bruno Mars’ songs, I know he's an amazing writing and it would just be fun.

Do you prefer playing live or working in the studio?

The studio is fun and we get a chance to experiment with different sounds and styles but there is nothing like playing in front of a live crowd where all your hours of practice and preparation are instantly appreciated.

How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?

We call ourselves a "Vocal Band" with a mission of bringing back good music for everyone to enjoy no matter age, race, color or religion. We have so many artists that have influenced us over the years in different genres of music, but since we consider ourselves as a band we try to give you that band feel from Sly and the Family Stone to Coldplay.

How would you define success in your career?

Success means different things to different people, for me doing something that I love to do and being compensated to do so ,traveling and experiencing different cultures around the world and having fans wanting to see and hear the music that I've put blood, sweat and tears into.

How does it feel knowing you have had 20million video views on You Tube?

It means that we're doing something that people want to hear and see.

You have toured with Michael Buble many times, the questions everyone wants to know is "Whats Buble really like"?

We've done 3 World tour with Michael over a 7 year run, He has appeared on our albums and we on his. Michael is good friend of ours we have a great respect for his craft and music.  He's just a regular guy and he makes sure you know that.

What is your favorite album of all time?

It may sound like a cliché but Michael Jackson's thriller is definitely my favorite album of all time.

You're stuck on an island, it's hot, and you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your mp3 player. What track is it?

That's a tough one but right now I would say Prince's "Diamonds and Pearls" would be that track.

What does the next year hold for Naturally 7?

A lot more TV, radio and touring in regions that we have yet visit so basically exposing ourselves to people who have not heard of us yet...
