Seth & Nirva Release 'Turning Over Tables'

Oct 05 2019

Known for delivering worshipful, vertical songs that blend pop, neo-soul and gospel influences, husband and wife Seth and Nirva have released their new single 'Turning Over Tables'.

In these deeply divided times we are living in, it is really easy to demonize others - especially those who don’t look and think like us. We tend to withdraw from people out of fear when what is needed is understanding and honest dialogue. Jesus taught us to love even our enemies, which sometimes requires us to stand courageously and challenge the status quo. This song reminds us of this inconvenient truth, while also giving us hope that we can help break off the chains of bondage as we shine a light in this present darkness. The gospel is still the only real hope for the world, and if we are to truly learn to love God and our neighbor, we must start with a solid biblical foundation. We will not get very far by distancing ourselves from God's truth in favor of the spirit of the age. Seth & Nirva have had many opportunities over the past few years to share in the ministry of reconciliation grounded in the biblical doctrine of the Imago Dei, and 'Turning Over Tables' is right in line with this message.

Nirva was a backing vocalist in TobyMac’s Diverse City Band for over a decade. Similarly, Seth has served as a backing vocalist for some of Christian music’s leading names including Kirk Franklin, Chris Tomlin, Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans. Together, they record as Seth & Nirva. The duo released their debut full-length album, Never Alone with Integrity Music in May of 2016. Their first single “Brother” was placed in regular rotation on 40 Christian AC and CHR reporting stations across the country and was also featured in Apple Music’s “The A-List: Christian” playlist. Seth & Nirva were invited to perform the song at the Dove Awards Pre-Telecast Award Show in 2016 as well as to be a part of the “Hits Deep Tour” in the spring of 2017. They also had the privilege of performing “Brother” in a racial reconciliation forum featuring Tony Dungy and Sage Steele. The song continues to open doors for them to sing and speak about the message of reconciliation throughout the US and abroad.

In January, Seth and Nirva started a podcast called Freemind (www.freemind.fm) that deals with cultural hot-button issues from a biblical perspective with an emphasis on apologetics. With 35 episodes at a total of more than 50,000 downloads, it sits in the top 20% of podcasts. Additionally, they are getting ready to release their new album One Voice in November, which features solos from Michael Tait and Mr. Talkbox, along with sermon snippets from Dr. Tony Evans and Dr. Rice Broocks.
