Coby James Co-Writes New Ezra Worship Initiative Track

Jun 01 2025

The Ezra Worship Initiative, in collaboration with NRT Music, announces the highly anticipated release of its latest worship anthem, "Covered by the Cross." Featuring the passionate vocals of Ezra Worship alum Grant Keith, this new single blends bold lyrical theology with fresh, modern musical expression. Co-written by Coby James, Grant Keith, and Taylor Jones, and arranged and produced by James, the song reflects the heartbeat of a generation seeking authentic worship rooted in biblical truth.

"Covered by the Cross" offers a vibrant declaration of the redemption and freedom found in Christ. With lyrics like, "I believe that when You say it's finished / My blame, my sin, my shame / Is covered by the cross," the track powerfully captures the essence of the Gospel and invites listeners into a confident proclamation of faith. Keith's dynamic vocal performance underscores the emotional depth of the message, while the song's modern sound and anthemic structure make it ideal for both personal devotion and congregational worship.

As part of the Ezra Worship Initiative's broader mission, this release exemplifies the program's commitment to raising up the next generation of worship leaders, musicians, and songwriters. The Initiative, a 10-week seminary-based internship, not only trains students in theology, leadership, and musicianship but also serves as a launchpad for fresh, original worship music. "Covered by the Cross" continues this legacy, delivering a song that bridges doctrinal richness with creative excellence.
