Interview: Amanda Nolan
New in our mini interview series: a really great chat with the brilliant Amanda Nolan.
Which artist or artists first inspired you to become a musician, and what about them sparked that passion?
The first artist to inspire me to become a musician was actually Ed Sheeran. I have always admired how he was not only an amazing vocalist but his songwriting was out of this world. He taught me to find inspiration in everything and to take every trial and joy in life and turn it into a song!
What’s your all-time favourite album, and why does it stand out for you?
My all time favorite albums would be split in two categories. My favorite Christian album is hands down “Let The Ground Rest” by Chris Renzema and my favorite secular album is “Angel Face” by Stephen Sanchez! Both of these albums stand out to me because of the songwriting. They both are so descriptive and paint a picture in my head where I feel like I am in this little world they created while making each album. I can only hope to inspire people like that!
What was the very first gig you ever went to? Where was it, and when?
The very first gig I went to was Ed Sheeran! As I said I was his biggest fan so I went to his concert in Philadelphia and he put on an entire show by himself with just his guitar and a loop pedal. I was so inspired I went and bought a loop pedal and used it at my gigs!
What’s the most recent gig you’ve been to? Where and when was it?
The most recent gig I’ve been to was actually the Dove awards here in Nashville! It’s not technically a “gig” but I got to see so many christian artists perform! Carrie Underwood even showed up!
What does the next year look like for you—any exciting plans, projects, or goals?
I am very hopeful and expectant for 2026 because I feel like I am truly stepping into my sound after years of writing and exploring and searching. I will be taking some risks this year with my sound and I’ll be releasing some singles Which I only hope will make people feel heard, understood, seen and honestly just feel good! Always keeping God at the center of what I do!
