Review: Bosh
Live At The Pier Theatre

Apr 12 2010

It’s always nice when bands give their fans a little treat, and that’s what Bosh have done with their 6 track live EP. The band recorded these tracks back in 2008 when they launched their flagship album ‘Sound The Alarms’ in the Theatre at the end of Bournemouth Pier. The gig was attended by 500 friends, family and fans, the performance was recorded for what was thought might turn into a live DVD, instead the band are releasing this EP with 6 of the best tracks from the night for their fans.

I personally loved the bands last release The Gloaming Hour and before that, the full album Sound The Alarm which provides the songs for this Live EP. It’s always interesting to hear the difference between the studio versions of these songs and the Live ones.

Full of passion, songs sung from the heart, good songs from what is a great album. The one track that really stands out has to be Touch Somebody and is probably the big song of this EP, sounding as good as the album version if not better. I also have to say I was loving the crowd interaction during Filth In, Filth out.

The album is at times a little raw in comparison to some of the Live albums that have come out over the last two years, this in my opinion is what makes it great, you get to hear the passion and energy from the Bosh lads. In my review of Sound The Alarms, I said about how they are a solid band, with solid bass and drums and thought provoking lyrics, these still come across in this Live EP. If you're a fan of the band, I am sure you will enjoy this.
